The Museum of the Alta Rocca in Levie

Archeology, palaeo-ethnography, and history are represented in this museum. This very famous museum presents 11 000 years of human occupation. The collections displayed show the history of the population’s daily life From the VIIIth millennium BC to the Middle Ages.

The Alta Rocca, it’s more than 60 excavated sites and more than 200 prospected sites. You can discover original pieces such as the skeleton of the oldest woman of Corsica, The lady of Bonifacio, and remains of extinct animals like the Prolagus, but also the atypical dishes of Curacchiaghju (Levie). We can also find a collection of jewels from Iron Age and tools made of local rocks.

This museum complete the visit of two sites opened to the visit: Cucuruzzu and Capula. These sites will present you a journey in the past that begins in the Mesolithic.

Summer timetable
From June 1st until September 30th. Everyday from 10am to 6pm. Except on public holiday

Winter timetable :
From October 1st until May 31st. From Tuesday to Saturday : 10am to 5pm. Except on public holiday
