PATRIMOINE RELIGIEUX DE CARBINI
The pisan church of san Giovanni is from the XIIth century, and considered by Prosper Merimée like the old one of Corsica. It is part of a complex that once included two churches, a bell tower and a baptistery. Today, just the church San giovanni and the bell tower are still here.
According to the local tradition, the bell tower would be the masterpiece of Maestro Maternato, the architect from Pisa who realised the bridge on the Rizzanese River.
The Giovannali, a sect which was in favour of fraternity and equality, refused to pay taxes and was excommunicated.
