LES AIGUILLES DE BAVELLA
The needles of Bavella (Les aiguilles de Bavella) are at an altitude of 1218 meters. They connect the Alta Rocca to the East Coast of Corsica. The site is characterized by the jagged peaks, large rock walls, and pine trees twisted by the wind. The needles have surprising forms and colours which go from the clearest red to the darkest grey with immense forests. Ideally located in the heart of the Natural Regional Park of Corsica, the site of Bavella is a territory of discovery of the preserved nature.
In the heart of the “massif de Bavella”, we find the seven towers of Asinau (rocky points) :
-Punta di l’Acellu, 1588m
-Punta di l’Ariettu, 1591m
-Punta di a Vacca 1611m (The only one accessible to the simple walker)
-Punta di u Pargulu 1785m
-Punta Longa 1836m
-Punta Alta 1855m
-Punta Lolla 1848m
The “massif de Bavella” is dominated by the big summit the “Mont Incudine” (2134m). From the Incudine to Bavella, there is the hiking trail of the GR20. Having reached the shelter of Asinao, (1536) he passes at the foot of the needles of Bavella.
At the pass, a few meters away from the road and near the parking lot, there is at the top of a pile of stone the statue of “Notre Dame des Neiges” (Our lady of the snow).
